I found I really liked parties while on xtc, and the dancing was wonderful. The people were wonderful. The whole world was wonderful. Oh, when I found out he charged me double for a hit, I had to hit him, but it was a wonderful time, with spring break just starting.
It was the first weekend, and I was ready to party.
"Mom, I will be staying with Ashley during the break," I called upstairs.
"Okay. Just don't do anything stupid," she called back down.
Fortunately, Ashley's family was gone. She threw such a fit that they agreed to let her stick around, which meant me and her were free from the parents for the entire week.
I went over to her house with a bag of clothes and makeup and other essentials. I could always go home if I needed more, or just borrow from her.
She greeted me at the door with a huge hug, and a scream for my ear!
I wrung my finger in my ear, then shrieked right along with her. "So, what are we doing first?" I asked.
"Well, there is a big party tonight." I grinned ear to ear. This is exactly why we didn't want to be under the parents thumbs. No curfew. No rules about boys. No worries about mom and dad catching us stumbling home drunk. Fortunately, Ashley got stoned herself, so it didn't take long before me and her were sharing a joint.
"So," she said, barely concealing a laugh.
"This one," I said. I grabbed a short skirt and a low cut tank top.
"TJ won't be able to keep his hands off you!" She screeched. I rolled my eyes and thought to myself how annoying it would be if I was stuck in her house the whole time. Oh, we were good friends, but she was overly excitable at times, and the way she squealed out comments when she got excited got on my nerves. I took a deep breath in, inhaling the smoke in my lungs and holding it, then gave her a wink and nodded.
"You know he thinks he will get on a college team, right?" I told her.
"No way!" I winced, but fortunately, I was stoned enough by now that it didn't bother me that much.
"I know, he will be pro. Just watch. College team, then pro. Oh my god, imagine me! I mean, have you seen all the money they make?"
I could picture myself walking down the isle with him, a huge wedding, expensive. He would be a pro ball player. "We will be so rich."
She nodded, and we laughed again.
I slipped on the outfit, checking myself in the mirror, and we helped each other put on makeup. It took a few tries. We were already a bit wasted.
Once we were ready, we headed out, grabbing some food and eating it in the car.
"My fucking god! Look at her!" We pointed at laughed at a fat, black girl in yoga style pants. We cracked up laughing, so hard we could barely catch our breath.
We drove to the party, and joined in. We met TJ there, and I followed him as we stopped and talked to everyone.
Eventually, we ran into Sam. TJ and Sam avoided looking at each other, and TJ started talking to someone else. Sam pulled at my elbow and whispered, "come try this." I looked at TJ, engrossed in talk about, well, whatever it was, and decided I was bored, so let go of his arm and followed Sam.
We went back into a bedroom and he pulled out a mirror and a baggie with white powder.
"What is that?" I asked, more curious than anything. I had seen it in the movies, and it actually surprised me that it was exactly what I thought.
"Coke." he informed me. He shook some of the white powder out of the baggie onto the mirror, now laying on the end table next to the bed, and pulled out a razor blade wrapped in cardboard. The cardboard pulled off, he started pushing the blade through the powder. I was intrigued, but didn't understand why he would do that. It was powder. How do you cut powder. I asked as much.
"To make sure it is very fine See these bigger pieces?" He pushed one out with the edge of the razor. I nodded. "Well, you don't want the chunks. When you use it, you want it to be really fine." I nodded, but still didn't understand. My stomach felt like it was doing little flips. I was excited, and nervous, to be in there.
He chopped it until he was satisfied, then pulled out a little metal tube. He put one end up his nose, pushed his other nostril closed with his finger, and snorted it up. I watched in fascination as the powder disappeared. Soon, he was sitting back up and handing the metal tube to me. Just as he handed it to me, TJ walked in.
"What the fuck are you doing in here with him." He took a menacing step towards Sam.
"Its okay sweety. Sam was just letting me try a little coke." He glared at him, and looked at the remaining line. Grabbing the tube from me, he grabbed the mirror, disturbing the little powder line, and snorted it up.
"Hey, that was mine!" I told him. I could not tell if I was whining or not. It sounded too much like it, so I just glared.
"It's fine," Sam said, and chopped up another line. He offered it to me, and soon I was snorting it myself. I felt the powder bite my nose. I had no other way to describe it. I could even taste it, bitter, chalky. I ran out to grab something to drink. Try to wash away the awful taste.
When I got back, neither was in the room. Later, I found them both back in the living room.
My heart felt like it was beating fast, and the room felt like it was moving slow. While the xtc had a calming effect, this seemed to give me lots of energy. I felt like I could do anything. I felt so strong, so powerful. Time blurred as I became an energetic ball. Ashley didn't bother me at all, and in fact, I had never felt closer to her. I grabbed her hand, pulled her over where Sam was sitting, and grabbed his hand. I pulled them both back to the same bedroom. "Ashley, you need to try this!" I blurted. Sam didn't move fast enough, so I reached in his pocket and grabbed the mirror and baggie. "Where is the razor?" I asked him.
"Woah. Slow down. Chill out." He reached in the same pocket and pulled the razor out. I grabbed it out of his hand and took the cardboard off, laying the mirror on the bed, and shaking the baggie. Suddenly, powder all over.
"Hey!" he yelled. "What are you doing? Do you know much much this costs?"
"Oh, sorry." I tried to pick it up with my fingers and put it back in the bag. It was so hard to grasp. Coke on a blanket, well, not that easy to pick up and put in a plastic bag.
He pushed me out of the way and cleaned it up as best he could. Then, he made a new line for Ashley. After she snorted, he made another line for himself, and then a line for me. That is when TJ walked in again. I was leaning against Sam's back, my arms wrapped around his neck, watching as he chop, chop, chopped.
He looked at us and lunged for Sam. Sam jumped back, and TJ went wide. Darting past us, Sam ran out of the room, with TJ following.

I ran behind, screaming at TJ to stop. Everyone was staring and trying to get out of the way of two running football players barreling down the hall.
TJ tackled Sam and they both went down. One punch landed and I was trying to grab TJ's arm. I found myself on the ground, dazed and confused. Reaching up to touch my face, I felt my cheek. I winced. It hurt. I sat there for a couple more seconds before I realized TJ punched me. He stared at me with a shocked expression. He hadn't hit me since he stopped the steroid cycles. I was pissed. Without thinking, I moved over and kissed Sam, right on the lips.
TJ's eyes went wide in shock. Sam's eyes did too. Now TJ was even more pissed, but right then I didn't care. He backed up without another word and left. No one got in his way. Everyone stared in stunned silence for a couple more minutes before going back to do whatever they were before, with lots of glances at me and Sam the whole time.
I found Ashley and made her take me back to her house. I sobbed most of the night with Ashley trying to comfort me. And I didn't see, or want to see, TJ for the rest of spring break.
